How to Clean Grease Off a Tile Floor

Updated February 21, 2017

A tile floor is common in many kitchens, providing a solid, durable surface that is easy to clean and rarely accumulates stains. When cooking with grease, food and grease splatters sometimes leave the floor stained and in need of a thorough cleaning. When this is the case, use a cleaning solution that quickly removes all of the greasy residue without causing damage to your tile or grout.

Fill a bowl with three parts baking soda and one part water, making enough to cover the entire stained area of flooring.

Stir the mixture with a spoon to create a thick, consistent paste.

Dip a nylon scrub brush into the paste and scrub the paste into the grease stains. Continue until all greasy residue is removed.

Rinse a cleaning rag under water, wring out the rag and wipe it over your tile floor. Allow the floor to air dry, and repeat if any grease stains remain.
