The Altec Lansing ADA885 computer speaker series has four different satellite speakers and a subwoofer. This gives you a 4.1 stereo system. Even if you have a RealTek 7.1 HD sound system, you are able to hook up the computer speakers together. Although this doesn't take full advantage of the 7.1 surround sound, at least you won't have to purchasing a new set of speakers if you already have the Altec Lansing hardware on hand.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Connect the provided 3.5mm cables into the "Audio In" connection port, located on each of the four satellite speakers. These cables come with the Altec Lansing hardware, so you don't need to purchase the content.

  2. 2

Plug the opposite ends of the cables into the "Audio Out" ports, locate on the rear of the subwoofer.

  3. 3

Plug the RCA audio cable into the "Audio In" port on the subwoofer, then connect the other end of the cable into one of the "Audio Out" ports on the RealTek 7.1 HD audio card.

  4. 4

Power on the Altec Lansing speaker system. The audio from the RealTek 7.1 HD audio card now plays through the hooked up Altec Lansing speakers.
