Vacuum sealers work by removing the air from a container, this is useful in the kitchen to prevent food waste and save money on the grocery budget. Leftovers that have been vacuumed sealed will stay fresh longer in the refrigerator than those exposed to air. This practice will reduce the amount of food waste in most people's kitchens. Vacuum sealers can also be used to store collectible items such as comic books to protect them from wear and tear.

    Place the item to be vacuum sealed into a vacuum sealer bag. Some vacuum sealers will allow you to seal any bag while others require you to use the bags designed specifically to be used with the product.

    Open the lid of the vacuum sealer and place the open end of the bag into the vacuum channel which will appear to be a groove or indentation.

    Close and lock the lid in place. Some vacuum sealers will have different settings for moist and dry foods, and offer the option of fast or normal speed sealing. If your vacuum sealer offers these options, choose the appropriate settings now.

    Press the button to start the vacuum sealing process and wait for the process to be completed.

    Unlock and open the lid once the seal indicator light has turned off. The item is now vacuum sealed.
