How to Open Amipro .Sam in Word 2007

Updated February 21, 2017

Files with an .SAM extension are word processing data files created using a software called Samna Ami Pro. Samna Ami Pro was the predecessor to what we know today as "Lotus Notes Pro." The 2007 version of Microsoft Word cannot natively open these files, as they are in a format that is not widely used in the present day. They can, however, be opened after you install a free compatibility update for the software from Microsoft's website. This update is called the "Office File Converter Pack."

Open your Web browser.

Download the "Office File Converter Pack" from the official Microsoft website (see References). Go to the download page for the compatibility update and click the "Download" button to download the installation file to your hard drive.

Double-click on the file you downloaded that represents the "Office File Converter Pack." Click "Next" in the window that opens to install the update onto your copy of Microsoft Office 2007.

Right-click on your .SAM file. Click the "Open With" menu option.

Click "Microsoft Office Word 2007" to open your .SAM file in Word 2007.
