How to repair a side view mirror on a ford focus

Updated July 20, 2017

The Ford Focus is a sporty and compact hatchback and sedan that is European-designed. When the Focus' mirrors are broken or cracked, the only way to repair them is to remove the entire mirror housing from the side of the Focus and replace the unit. It is easy to remove the mirrors and replace them successfully without going to a Ford dealership or an auto shop when the right steps are followed, which only takes about 30 minutes to an hour to accomplish.

Pull and detach the plastic part found at the side of the Focus' mirror, known as the tang.

Pull and detach the mirror control switch electrical connector that is found under the tang, and slide the trim panel away from the mirror.

Remove the bolt (found near the mirror control switch) with a wrench, counterclockwise to loosen the mirror.

Remove and unclip the Focus' mirror by prying it with a trim tool.

Install a new Focus mirror by repeating steps 1-4 in reverse.
