Buick makes the LeSabre luxury sedan, which is one of its top models. Changing the battery in a LeSabre is not just a simple matter of opening the car bonnet and dropping a new one in. This is because on LeSabres produced as of 2002 the battery has been placed under the rear passenger's seat bench. LeSabres manufactured prior to 2002 had the battery in the standard location under the bonnet.

- Adjustable wrench
Pop the bonnet on your LeSabre and prop it open with the bonnet latch. Locate the battery in the lower left-hand corner of the engine compartment.
Detach the red and black cables from the battery with an adjustable wrench. Turn the cables slowly and to the left to remove them from the battery. Unscrew the holding rod screws by turning them to the left until the battery holder is loose enough to move the battery out from under it then remove it from the car.
Place the new battery into the battery holder and attach the black cable to the black terminal on the battery. Always attach the black cable first as this will prevent surges since the black/negative cable grounds the battery. Attach the red cable to the red terminal on the new battery. Screw the holder rod back down to secure the battery then close the bonnet.
Open the left passenger's side door. Locate the tow cushion loops on the front of the seat cushion. Pull the loops forward, towards the front of the car, until you hear the holding attachments pop open. Pull forward on the cushion and remove it from the car.
Locate the battery under the seat next to the left-hand side of the bench. Use a wrench to remove the red and black cables from the terminals of the old battery. Pick up the battery by its handle and lift it straight up. Remove the old battery.
Install the new battery into the battery housing area. Attach the black/negative cable to the black battery terminal first. Attach the red/positive cable to the red terminal on the battery. Replace the seat bench cushion onto the bench.
Reach between the bench seat cushion and seat back to find the seat belts and pull them through the slit between the seat cushion and seat back so they rest on the seat bottom. Close the door of your LeSabre.
