DVD players and discs are all sold encoded for use in a specific region of the world. This makes it impossible to use discs with players from other regions, which can be an inconvenience if you want to play a DVD from another part of the world in your DVD player. Fortunately, most DVD players, including the Sony DVP-SR90, can be switched to a "Multi-Region" setting that allows them to play DVDs from any region.
