The Mpeg4 file format is a multimedia file type that typically houses both video and audio. If you want to be able to extract the audio for use on its own, you can convert your Mpeg4 files to MP3 files. It doesn't matter if you have video in the Mpeg4 file because converting it to MP3 leaves you with just the audio. All you need to convert from Mpeg4 to MP3 is a multimedia converter program that supports each format.
