The Acer Aspire 5920 is a PC laptop model that uses Windows Vista. All Acer laptops come equipped with a built-in utility called "eRecovery Management" to create backup CDs. You can choose to create a backup CD of the laptop factory settings only or you may instead backup all of your current files and programs. These "Restore CDs" will come in handy if your Aspire laptop fails to boot or if your PC files become corrupted.

  1. 1

Go to "Start > Programs > Acer Empowering Technology > eRecovery Management."

  2. 2

Click on "Setup" and type in a new password twice if you are prompted. Type in a "Hint" for your password and click "OK."

  3. 3

Click "Backup," "Burn Disk," and then "Factory Default Disk" to create discs backing up your Acer laptop system to the factory defaults. In this scenario, your current files and programs will not be saved. Alternately, you may choose to "Create current system configuration backup disc," which will save your current files and programs.

  4. 4

Click "Burn Disc." Insert a blank CD or DVD into the optical drive and click "OK."

  5. 5

Insert additional blank discs into the optical drive as you are prompted by the Acer eRecovery Management program. Number each CD or DVD to keep the discs in order.
