How to Reset a 2002 Toyota Corolla Air Bag Light

Updated February 21, 2017

When the airbag light or SRS light illuminates on your 2002 Toyota Corolla, you need to take your vehicle to a mechanic immediately. Once you have the problem looked at and fixed, the airbag light may still remain on. If so, you will need to manually reset it. This is an easy fix that will just take a few moments of your time.

Located the fuse panel under the steering column. Release the cover with your fingers and pull it down.

Find a yellow electrical connector for the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) in the fuse panel box.

Put the key in the ignition and turn the vehicle on or the "II" position.

Remove the yellow connector from the fuse panel box.

Take the paper clip and touch one end of it to one terminal on the yellow connector and the other end to the other terminal. The SRS light will stay on for about ten seconds then it will turn off.

Put the yellow connector back in place and close the panel cover.
