How to Reset a Panasonic Cordless Base

Updated February 21, 2017

In 2008, Panasonic partnered with Deltathree and introduced its own direct-to-consumer phone service called Joip. Joip allows you to phone other Joip members globally, free of charge. Joip is the Panasonic brand that powers voice over Internet protocol, or VoIP. You can get receive Joip as a service bundle when you purchase Panasonic's Globarange hybrid landline/VoIP telephones. Your Joip number consists of pound sign followed by 10 digits. You can join Joip calling plans, for a fee, to make Internet calls other than to Joip members. For those who may be experiencing problems or would like to restart their system, resetting the cordless base of your Panasonic phone is an option.

Locate the IP reset on the bottom of the Panasonic cordless base. IP represents "Internet Protocol," a code to label data packets sent across the Internet. The IP code identifies the sending and receiving computers.

Unplug the AC adaptor of the base unit to reset the unit. Reconnect the AC adaptor. You may have a problem with the base unit hardware if you see the status indicator flashing quickly. In this case, contact Panasonic for service.

Reset Internet connections settings by pressing the IP reset button at the bottom of the base unit. Press the IP reset button in and hold it for seven seconds using something like a pen, or another pointed object. Make certain you have the AC adaptor connected. The IP reset button erases all of your Panasonic ringtones.

Press "Yes" when you see the message "Please read joip Terms of Use. Agree?" Pressing the reset button cancelled memory of the terms of use you agreed to before. The status indicator will soon become green. You will find entries in your handset phone book and call list not affected. Pressing the reset button also did not affect the unit settings, except for the Internet connection settings.

Go to "Menu," and then select "#," "5," "0," " 1." This shows you the Internet connection settings you need.

Enter the IP address with four numbers from zero through 255, separated by periods. For example, enter an IP address of "192.168.0. 253." Use the joystick, pushing it up or down to move between the different data fields.

Enter the subnet mask with four numbers from 0 to 255, separated by periods.

Enter the default gateway address using four numbers separated by periods.

Enter the domain name system (DNS) server addresses for DNS 1 and DNS 2. Enter four numbers separated by periods. Move the cursor by pressing the joystick to the left or to the right. Press "Clear" to correct the digits that you enter.

Confirm your Joip number when the status indicator of your base unit becomes green. This means the setting process has completed. You will see the Joip number on your handset, which will disappear once you start using your handset. Go to "Menu," and press "#," "1," "0," "3." This represents another way you can see your Joip number using any handset.
