Owners of the TomTom One, or any other TomTom, will occasionally need to update the device. Updates include new maps, firmware and software distributed by TomTom. In addition, any maps or applications such as voice apps purchased by the customer will need to be downloaded to the device. This can be done by updating the device with TomTom's proprietary software. Once logged in with the software, any TomTom updates or maps and applications purchased with your TomTom account will be available to download to the device.
Download and install the TomTom Home software. To download, hit the "Download" option for your computer's operating system. Follow the installation prompts.
Connect the TomTom GPS device to your computer using the USB cable. TomTom Home should launch automatically. If not, click on the "Start" menu and select the program.
Click the "Update my device" option if the software doesn't automatically begin searching for updates for the device.
Login or create a TomTom Home account when prompted by the software.
Select the "Update and Install" option underneath all available updates for the device and the software will update the GPS.
Hit "Done" when the software has notified you that it has finished updating the device.
Click on the "Eject" button in the bottom right corner of the software. Then disconnect the TomTom from the USB cable.
