Access Connections allows users to avoid support costs by switching between networks for Internet, security, printers and other connections that are location specific. It allows you to create profiles for each network (home, work, etc.) and switch between all wired or wireless connections by changing your profile. If you're not using it, however, it's just needlessly eating up RAM on your Lenovo laptop and can be disabled.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Click the Windows logo in the lower left corner of your desktop. Type "msconfig" in the "Start Search" box, then click "msconfig" under "Programs." Click "Continue" in the "User Account Control" pop-up window.

  2. 2

Click the "Startup" tab in the "System Configuration" window. Click the boxes next to "AC Profile Manager Service" and "Access Connections Main Service" to remove the ticks. Click "OK."

  3. 3

Click "Restart" in the "System Configuration" pop-up window to restart your computer now or click "Exit Without Restart" if you'd prefer to restart your system later. Access Connections is disabled after your computer finishes restarting Windows.
