How to Repair a Smart Car Puncture

Updated July 20, 2017

The Smart car is one of the most compact cars in North America. Having a flat tire or a puncture in one of the tires of the Smart can be stressful, especially when not having a spare tire available.Tire sealant will solve the issue. Tire sealants are available in small cans at most auto parts stores and they are used to repair punctures on flat tires. The official Smart tire sealant works well when repairing a tire puncture on a Smart car, but the Tyreweld and Fix-A-Flat sealants are cheaper to buy.

Park the Smart on level ground.

Raise the punctured tire using a jack.

Place the tire sealant can's nozzle onto the puncture and check the instructions on the can to know how much of the substance is to be used, as it varies for each sealant.

Pump up the Smart's tire using a tire pump/compressor.

To ensure safe driving, do not drive more than 50mph with a repaired punctured tire, and do not use the tire for more than 50 miles of driving.
