How to unzip an ECM file
Access your compressed files using ECM. (cartella file 01 image by DAN from Fotolia.com)

Error Code Modeler (ECM) is a tool that allows you to further compress image files to save more space. You can make image files of media that you own, such as CDs and DVDs, to store them on your computer. Before you begin, you'll need to download the software program that you will be using to unzip your ECM files.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Download ECM v1.0 (see Resources).

  2. 2

Create a folder on your desktop. Unzip the contents of the file you downloaded to the folder. Read the "readme.txt" file to learn more about ECM.

  3. 3

Drag and place the ECM file that you want to uncompress directly on top of the "unecm.exe" file. This is a file that you unzipped located in the folder you created. The uncompressed file will appear in its original folder. You should be able to use the file now.
