If your Dell Dimension 8200 is having start-up problems, you may need to reset the BIOS. The BIOS, which stands for Basic Input/Output System, controls many aspects of your computer, such as the system time and boot order. The BIOS retains its memory even if the power to the computer is unplugged with a small battery, referred to as the CMOS battery. Because of this, simply unplugging the computer will not reset the BIOS.
