Whether your office environment is formal or more casual, most offices celebrate joyous occasions like the boss's birthday. Many will solicit small collections between co-workers to purchase a card and one small gift for all co-workers to sign and give to the boss as the office sings "Happy Birthday". If this procedure does not occur in your office, it is still good form to wish your boss a heartfelt "Happy Birthday" and perhaps give him a professional card.
