How to Sew Ribbon on Ballet Shoes

Updated April 17, 2017

Ballet shoes do not come with the ribbons already sewn on; therefore, you will need to do this after you buy the shoes. You don't need to be a sewing expert to sew the ribbons on ballet shoes. The process of attaching the ribbons to the ballet shoes is a relatively simple process that only requires simple stitches. Understanding the basic principles of where to place the ribbons and the pattern in which to sew them will help you to achieve this desired objective.

Cut the ribbon into four equal pieces. Folds the ends of the pieces over. This will prevent the ribbons from fraying.

Thread the needle, and sew the folded pieces of the ribbons. Not many stitches are needed.

Place the ends of the ribbons at the heel of the ballet shoe. The ribbons should be at a diagonal to the heel of the shoe.

Sew the ends of the ribbons to the heels of the ballet shoes in a square pattern. You do not have to pull the needle from the inside of the shoe to the outside of the shoe. All the sewing can be done from within.
