How to Save a Mario Kart Wii Game on an SD Card

Updated July 19, 2017

"Mario Kart Wii" is a racing game for the Nintendo Wii game system. Similar to previous "Mario Kart" games, new tracks, characters and items are unlocked as you progress through the game. This information is saved to the Wii's internal hard drive. You can transfer your "Mario Kart Wii" game data (or any game data) from the Wii to an SD card, which allows you to upload the file onto a different Wii system.

Turn off the Wii. Insert the SD card into the Wii's SD card slot on the front of the system.

Turn the Wii on. Select the "Wii" icon at the bottom of the Channel Menu (the menu that loads when you turn the Wii on).

Select "Data Management." Select "Save Data." Select the "Wii" tab to display all files.

Select the Mario Kart Wii game data you want to put on the SD card. Select "Copy." Select "Yes" when asked to confirm.
