How to Use the Built in Webcam on the Compaq Presario CQ50-215NR Notebook

Updated July 20, 2017

All HP computers, such as the Compaq Presario CQ50-215NR notebook, come with a program called QuickPlay. You can use QuickPlay, a free software program, to play audio and video, to view pictures, and to record videos with your webcam or take pictures. This program makes using your built-in webcam a task that even a beginner with little or no computer experience can do.

Click on "Start," "All Programs" and "QuickPlay."

Click on the "Video Icon" that is located on the tool bar of the program, next to the DVD option. Once you've done this you will be able to view yourself on your computer screen.

Click on the "Record" button or the "Snapshot" icon to begin using your webcam. The record option will record video, whereas the snapshot will take a picture of yourself using the webcam.

If you have Yahoo! Messenger, Skype or Windows Live Messenger, you can use your webcam to hold video calls with your friends and contacts. Simply click on the webcam button within the messenger, or the video call button, and you will be able to video message.
