Completing a system restore on your eMachine computer is an easy task that just about anyone can do---even those who have little to no computer experience. If your computer has any viruses, is running slow or is having any other problems, system restore is a way for your computer's system files to undo any changes that were made to your eMachine computer. The computer can be restored from the boot menu, which is the ideal way if you do not have your operating system CD or DVD.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Turn off your computer by clicking on the "Start" menu and then "Shut Down."

  2. 2

Turn on your eMachine and press the "F8" key as the system boots. Click on "Safe Mode with Command Prompt."

  3. 3

Type "wmic/namespace:\root\default" and then "path systemrestore get."

  4. 4

Press the "Y" key when the prompt pops up to restore your computer. Once your computer begins the system restore process, another prompt will pop up telling you that the system restore was successful.

  5. 5

Type in "WMIC: exit" to exit and then press "Enter."

  6. 6

Restart your eMachine computer. As Windows begins to boot a "System Restore" dialogue box will pop up. Click "Close." You have now completed a system restore on your eMachine.
