Accessing Gmail and certain other web services behind a blocked proxy might seem impossible. Proxies can be set up to block access to certain websites while you browse in order to filter and prevent certain Web access. If Gmail is behind your blocked proxy, then there are a few ways that you can access Gmail without using the usual website address. There are multiple ways of accessing Gmail and you should try them all before giving up with your blocked proxy.

Set up Gmail with your e-mail application on your computer such as Windows Live Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird. Check Google's "Supported POP client list" for details on supported e-mail clients and also for the information on how to set them up.
Log in with iGoogle and your most recent e-mail messages will be displayed in the bar on the left.
Download and install Google Desktop. This will add a sidebar to your desktop and allow you to check your e-mail from within the sidebar widget, rather than using the website itself.
