Many of the errors on your HP laptop are issues that stem from problems on your hard drive. Before you do a complete system recovery and reset your computer to factory settings, you can perform a check disk scan. A check disk scan allows the computer to diagnose specific problems within the hard drive and attempt to repair them.
- Skill level:
Close any open programs.
Click "Start" and select "(My) Computer."
Right-click the drive on which you want to run the check disk scan and select "Properties."
Click the "Tools" tab.
Click "Check Now" in the "Error Checking" section.
Click both check boxes in the "Check disk" pop-up window and select "Start." The check disk scan will now run.
