The Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR4 is one of Sony's highest-quality television sets. This 40-inch LCD panel features a resolution of 1920x1080, enabling the display of full-resolution 1080p high-definition signals. It also offers a broad range of inputs, making it the centre of a modern home-entertainment system. Because having a good television set is not enough to enjoy realistic images, it is equipped with a large number of both video and audio quality adjustments, allowing you to maximise your viewing experience.

Instructions

  1. 1

Insert a THX-certified DVD or Blu-ray into your DVD or Blu-ray player. Switch your TV to display that player, and navigate to the THX Optimizer tool on that DVD or Blu-ray.

  2. 2

Press the "Home" button on the TV's remote control. Use the left arrows on your remote control to navigate to the Settings menu, denoted by an icon of a toolbox.

  3. 3

Use the up and down arrows to navigate through the Settings menu. The Picture option is the third one down and denoted by an icon with a frame and a person inside of it. Select that option by pressing the button with the cross hairs (up and down lines) in the middle of the remote control's directional page.

  4. 4

Navigate through the Picture settings as with other menus by using the up and down arrows to move and the cross hairs button to select items. Menu items that assist you in adjusting your Bravia's image quality are Backlight, Picture, Brightness, Color, Hue, Color Temperature, Sharpness, Noise Reduction and MPEG Noise Reduction.

  5. 5

Use your DVD/Blu-ray player's remote to complete the THX Optimizer, following its instructions on how to set the various controls in your Bravia's picture menu. It helps you find the best possible settings for your brightness, contrast, colour, hue and sharpness.

  6. 6

Leave the picture settings menu by pressing the "Home" button on your remote control when you are finished.
