How to Change the Fan Speed in a Dell XPS Laptop

Updated April 17, 2017

Dell XPS laptops are fairly high-performance machines, but one of the downsides to all that power is an exceptionally loud system fan. Resolve this issue by utilising a third-party fan management program to customise the fan speed of your XPS laptop, enabling you to lower the fan speed to inaudible levels when the computer is not under load.

Click the "I8kfanGUI" link in Resources.

Click the "Primary Download" location. Select "Save File" and save the application to your desktop.

Double click the downloaded file to install it on your computer.

Open "Start," "Programs," and open the fan control utility. Click "Manual fan control" and use the sliders to adjust the fan speed in your XPS computer.
