Many women strive for long, straight hair, but many conventional chemical and hot-iron straighteners can cause unsightly damage. Using herbs to straighten your hair is a natural method that will give you the results you desire without costing too much money. Using herbs as a straightener will also moisturise your hair and help prevent frizzies and flyaways. The best part is that you can do this at home without having to spend hours at the salon.

Things you need

  • Coconut milk
  • Lime or lemon juice
  • Lavender
  • Chamomile
  • Burdock
  • Cotton towel

    Pour coconut milk into a container and let it sit until the milk forms a thick layer. You can purchase coconut milk at natural food stores and most supermarkets.

    Scoop the thick layer of cream from the top of the coconut milk. Mix the cream from the milk with 3 tbsp of lemon or lime juice.

    Add drops of herbs to your hair straightening mixture. Lavender, burdock and chamomile will help relax the frizzies and curls. Adding three drops of each herb should do the trick.

    Refrigerate your hair straightening concoction overnight or until it thickens. It will then be ready to be applied to your hair.

    Apply the mixture with your hands to your hair. Pay special attention to your hair roots and ends. Wrap a cotton towel around your hair and let the straightener do its job for at least an hour.

    Wash your hair and rinse with warm soapy water to remove the coconut milk mixture. Achieve the results you want by applying the natural hair straightener two to three times per week. In addition to straighter hair, you will also notice the coconut milk mixture deeply conditions to leave your hair shiner and healthier.
