Compaq Presario computer models can be connected to a TV for viewing computer content on the bigger screen. A standard S-video cable hooks up the computer to a TV with a compatible socket. If the Presario does not show on the TV, try troubleshooting the cable connection and the hotkey sequence to activate the video output feature on the laptop.

Instructions

  1. 1

Push the S-video plug on each end of the cable firmly into the Presario and TV sockets to secure the connection. A loose plug will cause the video signal to cut out.

  2. 2

Press and release the "Input" button repeatedly on the TV remote control to switch the set from one input connection to the next until "S-video" or the Presario screen appears on the TV. If the input is changed to another connection, such as for a video game console, the TV will not display the Presario even if a cable from the Presario is physically connected to the set.

  3. 3

Press the "Fn" key and either the F2, F3 or F4 key, depending on the Presario model, to activate the S-video output from the computer to the TV. The numbered F key is also printed with a small screen icon to denote its function.
