How to Design a Rugby Ball

Updated April 17, 2017

A customised rugby ball is great way to display your love of the sport, or even your favourite rugby team. But, instead of flashing someone else's team symbol, wouldn't it be nice to display your own design? Websites that specialise in customising rugby equipment can help make it easier to get a design idea, but with a plain ball and your own personal design, you can design your own rugby ball at home.

Dip your paint brush in your desired colour paint and paint vertical lines along the seams of the ball. Wash the paint off your paintbrush in your water cup and set it aside while the paint on the ball dries.

Dip your paintbrush in your black paint and paint your design in one or all of the white areas on your rugby ball. Wash the paint off your paintbrush and set it aside while the paint on the ball dries.

Repaint over the stripes and design until the thickness of the colour is to your liking.

Things You'll Need

  • Regulation-size white rugby ball
  • Paint brush
  • Colour acrylic paint
  • 1 cup water
  • Black acrylic paint
