How to Make a Degrees Symbol in PowerPoint

Updated February 21, 2017

The degree symbol indicates a measurement, such as a temperature or an angle. It appears as an empty circle that is positioned as a superscript. As a special character, there is not a specific key on the keyboard to press to get the degree symbol. Instead, you can insert the degree symbol using a menu item in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007.

Click on the place in the PowerPoint slide where you want the degree symbol to appear.

Click the “Insert” tab from the ribbon of tabs at the top of the PowerPoint window.

Go to the “Text” menu beneath the ribbon and click the “Symbol” icon. The “Symbol” window opens.

Locate the degree symbol from the options in the window. You may need to scroll through the options.

Click on the degree symbol and press the “Insert” button. The degree symbol inserts in the document. Press the “Close” button to leave the “Symbol” window.
