How to Play a Mini Video Cassette

Updated February 21, 2017

Although digital technology has made VHS nearly obsolete, you may still have some mini video cassettes lying around that you want to watch from time to time. Luckily, you don't have to toss your old tapes; you can still watch them by employing one of two methods of playback. These playback methods are fairly simple to perform, and with a few easy steps, you can be viewing your old memories onscreen in no time.

Insert the mini video cassette into a camcorder that is compatible with this type of cassette.

Connect the audio visual cables that came with the camcorder from the camera to the inputs on your television.

Set the television on the appropriate auxiliary setting. Usually you can push the "input" button on your remote one or more times to do this.

Turn on the camera in its "playback" setting.

Press the "play" button on the camera to watch the video on your television screen.

Open the door to the cassette compartment on a mini cassette adaptor. You may have to slide a tab over to make the door open on some models.

Insert the mini video cassette with the reels facing the holes in the back of the adaptor.

Close the compartment door.

Load the adaptor into a VCR and watch the video.
