The control panel on the front of your HP LaserJet printer contains valuable information, including the current status of the printer. When the printer experiences a problem, such as the loss of network connectivity or an empty toner cartridge, the printer will go offline until the problem is corrected.

Check the printer's control panel for error messages. A "Toner low" message indicates that the toner cartridge needs to be changed. Some LaserJet models will automatically take themselves offline when the toner runs low. This prevents paper from being wasted due to lack of toner. Replace the toner cartridge if the printer shows a "Toner Low" warning.
Press the "Go" or the "Power" button on the LaserJet printer. Watch the control panel for a message that the printer is back online.
Press the "Power" button to turn the printer off if it still does not come online. Power cycling the printer forces it to come back to online status.
Remove and reseat the network cable if the printer is still offline. A loss of network connectivity can cause the offline message. Replace the cable if reseating it does not work.
