How to Turn on Bluetooth on XPS M1710

Updated March 23, 2017

The Dell XPS M1710 comes with an internal Bluetooth adaptor. This means that as long as you have the latest Windows XP service pack installed on the laptop, you can connect to Bluetooth devices without the need for an external adaptor. When you turn on the XPS Bluetooth and a different Bluetooth device, a message will pop up on the laptop’s screen informing you that a device wants to connect to the computer. You just need to ensure the Bluetooth on the laptop is enabled first.

Click the “Start” menu and open the “Control Panel.”

Select “Printers and other Hardware.”

Open “Bluetooth Devices.”

Select the “Options” tab.

Select “Turn discovery on” and “Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer.”

Click “Apply” to save the settings and turn Bluetooth on.

Click “OK” to close the window.
