The Sony PlayStation 3 was released in 2006 as the successor of the PlayStation 2. It boasts many features which include playing Blu-ray discs and housing all your movie files. You can transfer your movie files back to an external hard drive, which will back them up in case you lose your data. Sony has made it very easy to back up your movies onto an external hard drive with the use of the USB interface.

Instructions

    Turn on your Sony PS3 and connect your external hard drive to your PS3 with the USB cable.

    Go to the "Video" section of the PS3 menu and select your movie that you want to copy to the external hard drive.

    Press the "Triangle" button to bring up the function menu. Select "Copy" and select your external hard drive from the list that appears. Wait as the movie file copies to your external hard drive.

    Press the "O" button to exit the copy menu when the process completes.
