- Microsoft Paint software
Open the graphic editing software on your computer. You can find the Microsoft Paint program under the "Accessories" tab in the programs list.
Create a new image by clicking "File" and selecting "New." Click on the rectangle icon on the side of the screen to draw a rectangle shape on the page. Select the dotted rectangle at the very top of the options menu on the left. This is the selection tool.
Click in one corner of the rectangle and drag the selection to the other corner. Select "Edit" and scroll down to the "Paste From" option to browse your computer for a picture file.
Choose a picture to insert into the card. Thank you cards normally have scenery, flowers or a soothing image. Hit "OK" to open the picture in the Paint program. Click on the adjustment points around the image. Drag these points in a direction that will scale the image to fit inside your rectangle.
Click on the icon with the letter "A." Select a complementary font colour from the menu at the top of the screen. Click on the white screen inside the rectangle and type in the box that appears. Drag the box the text is written in to make it bigger or smaller.
Click on "File" and under the print selection menu click the "Page Setup" option. Click on "Size" on the Page Setup screen. Select the paper size you will print the thank you card on. The "A4" option is standard printer paper. Click "OK" when you are done.

- Lower the printer ink setting to conserve ink when printing big jobs.
- Add borders around the edge for an added effect.
- Print cards on premium paper for a nice touch.
- Graphic-intense images will use a lot of printer ink.
