A light diffuser is an object placed over a lighting source to soften the light. A diffuser casts the light rays in angles so the light doesn't hit a subject directly. Lamp shades are a good example of a common household light diffuser. Diffusers are used often in photography and film to light a scene and its subjects. Designing a light diffuser at home is simple and inexpensive.
