How to Make Suction Cups Stay

Suction cups are handy for hanging items in any room. They come in a variety of sizes and are convenient in the kitchen and bathroom or on windows. Suction cups can be attached and removed easily, making them a handy and convenient tool to have around. When you've placed a suction cup in your desired location and it keeps falling down, there are a few simple procedures you can follow to ensure your suction cup stays in place. Once you're done, you'll have a suction cup that stays in place until you remove it yourself.

Spray the surface to which you'd like to adhere the suction cup with all-purpose cleaning spray.

Wipe the surface with a clean cloth, turning it over frequently as you remove dirt. A suction cup will not adhere well to a dirty surface.

Pour a little cooking oil onto your fingertips.

Rub the cooking oil on the inside portion of the suction cup, where it will stick against the surface.

Press the suction cup against the intended surface and hold it for 30 seconds.

Tip

Baby oil can also be used to lubricate the suction cup. Suction cups often fall down because of dryness. The oil keeps the material moist and lubricated.

Warning

Wash the surface with a grease-cutting dish-washing detergent after you remove the suction cup. The oil used to lubricate the suction cup will leave a slight film.
