How to program a keyless entry remote for a yaris

Updated February 21, 2017

The Toyota Yaris, like hundreds of vehicles available today, features the popular keyless entry remote system. This system comes standard and allows you to control a variety of your vehicle's features. You can program your original remote system, or reprogram the remotes for a different system, in the same manner in just minutes, from your vehicle. Programming requires only the keyless remote itself and your ignition key.

Enter your Toyota Yaris with your keyless remote and ignition key in hand, and close all the doors except the driver's door. Leave the driver's door unlocked.

Insert your key into the ignition and remove it two times in quick order, then close and open the driver's door twice.

Insert and remove the key into and from the ignition once more, then close and open the driver's door two more times.

Insert the key into the ignition again; close the door, and turn the key once from the "Lock" position to the "On" position and back.

Remove the key from the ignition and wait for the locks to cycle to confirm the beginning of the programming sequence.

Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on your remote for three seconds, release and hold the lock button on your remote for one second. Wait for the locks to again cycle to indicate that the programming was successful.

Repeat Step 6 with any additional remotes, then open the door to exit the programming sequence.
