You do not need to be a clowning professional to make balloon animals. Although many balloon animals look complex, they are easy to make; you just need to learn how to twist a long balloon into segments and manipulate those segments into sculptural shapes. One balloon animal that even amateurs can create is a teddy bear, since it only takes a few twists and bends of the balloon. Once you learn to create a teddy bear balloon animal, you'll be able to impress everyone at the next birthday party you attend.

Things you need
- 260u balloon (pencil balloon)
- Permanent marker
Inflate a 260u balloon--the narrow, oblong balloons that are ideal for making balloon sculptures--and tie it off the open end. Pinch the balloon about one-quarter of the way from the bottom end as you blow it up.
Place your index finger on the tied-off end; push it 2 inches into the balloon. Once the knot is in the correct spot, squeeze the outside of the balloon with your other hand. Grab the knot as you pinch around the outside of the balloon, and remove your index finger. You should now have a small bubble at the top end of your balloon.
Twist the bubble clockwise to secure it in place. Once you have twisted the balloon, you can stop squeezing down on the outside. This bubble will become the bear's snout.
Divide the next 14 inches of the balloon into segments with the following measurements--2 inches, 3 inches, 1 1/2 inches, 3 inches, 1 1/2 inches and 3 inches. To make each segment, pinch the balloon at the point where the segment will end. Twist it clockwise at this point. These segments will form the rest of the bear's head.
Create a loop from the segmented section. Place the twist that separates the 2-inch segment and the first 3-inch segment over the twist that separates the last 1 1/2 inch segment and the last 3-inch segment. Twist the loop clockwise to connect it together.
Push the bear's snout through the center of the loop.
Grasp the 1 1/2-inch segments at the top of the loop. Twist each one clockwise to create ears for your bear balloon.
Twist the balloon 1 1/2 inches from the bottom of the loop to create a neck for your bear. Make a twist 5 inches from the base of the neck to create a body. Twist the remaining length of the balloon into four segments that are equal in length; these four segments will form the arms and legs. At the end of the final segment, make a twist about 1/2 inch from the end of the balloon to create a round tail.
Fold the first and second of the equal-in-length segments so the end of the second segment rests across the base of the balloon bear's neck. Twist the base of the neck and the end of the second segment to connect them together.
Turn the remaining equal in length segments downward from the neck, lining up the end of the fourth segment with the base of the body. This will create the bear's second arm and leg. Place the twist that divides the tail from the final equal segment at the base of the body and twist to connect. The tail should face toward the rear of your balloon bear.
Draw eyes and a mouth on the bear's face with a permanent marker.
