SD memory cards are fast becoming one of the easiest and most popular tools for saving and transferring files between computers and mobile devices. The most common files saved on SD memory cards are songs and music. Windows Media Player is included in every copy of Microsoft Windows, and is a powerful audio and video program capable of playing several types of files. If you have songs or videos saved on an SD memory card, you can easily play them in Windows Media Player and add the files to your music or video library.

Insert the SD memory card into your computer's card reader slot. If your laptop or PC does not have a built-in card reader, and the memory card is inside a camera or cell phone, connect that mobile device to your computer using a USB data cable. Your computer will automatically detect the presence of the inserted SD memory card or connected device and prepare for proper communication and file transfers.
Start the Windows Media Player program. Click the "Start" button on your computer's desktop, then scroll to "All Programs" and select the "Windows Media Player" icon that appears within the list of installed programs.
Select the songs to download. Click the "File" button in the toolbar at the top of the Windows Media Player program window, then scroll down and select "Add to Library..." from the list of options. A new window will appear with a list of currently monitored folders that Windows Media Player automatically scans for new content. If this list is not visible, click the "Advanced Options" button at the bottom of the window. Click the "Add" button below the list of folders and browse to your SD memory card by double-clicking the "My Computer" icon and choosing the appropriate file folder.
Initiate the download. Once you have selected the audio and video files to download from your SD memory card, click the "Ok" button at the bottom of the "Add to Library" window. Windows Media Player will immediately scan the SD memory card folder you chose and import any new music or video files, which will be added to your Library for future selection.
Tips and warnings
- When Windows Media Player is running, you can immediately open the "Add Files" box by pressing the F3 button on your computer keyboard.
- Do not remove the SD memory card or disconnect your mobile device while the file download is in progress. This may result in an incomplete data transfer and damage to your files.
