Bamboo's distinctive design makes it a natural choice of material for a headboard. Make a decorative bamboo headboard from bamboo blinds and bamboo poles. The horizontal blinds pair with bamboo poles placed both horizontally and vertically as a frame around them. Recycle bamboo blinds into a headboard with a few extra supplies from the home improvement store.

Things you need
- Measuring tape
- 1/2-inch thick sheet of plywood
- Bamboo blinds
- 2-inch bamboo pole
- 1-inch bamboo poles
- Construction adhesive
- Wall hangers
- Stud finder
Cut a sheet of 1/2-inch plywood to the desired height and width of the headboard. Measure the length and width of the bamboo blinds. Determine how many blinds it takes to cover the plywood. For example, plywood cut to fit a king-size headboard will be approximately 76 inches wide. If the blinds are 36 inches wide, you’ll need two blinds to fit the width. You will cover the excess plywood between, around and on top of the blinds with bamboo poles.
Remove the strings from the top of the bamboo blinds. Leave the headers intact; you will cover them with a bamboo pole.
Arrange the blinds onto the plywood. If you are only using one blind to make a twin or full-size headboard, centre it on the plywood. To make a headboard with two blinds, place them side by side and centre both on the plywood. Open the blinds to the length necessary to fit the height of the headboard. If the blinds are too long, extend them only as long as necessary.
Slice a 2-inch diameter bamboo pole in half lengthwise. The length of the pole should equal the width of the plywood. Place one half of the pole over the blind headers at the top of the plywood. Place the other pole at the bottom of the plywood along the end of the blinds.
Measure the distance between the two bamboo poles at the top and bottom of the headboard. Cut 1-inch poles long enough to fit this height. Cut as many 1-inch poles as you need to fill in the open section of the plywood on either side of the blinds. Cut another pole or poles to fit between the bamboo blinds, if you like.
Remove the bamboo poles from the plywood after your design is created. Glue the blinds to the plywood with construction adhesive. Glue the bamboo pole frames around the bamboo blinds with construction adhesive. Let the adhesive dry.
Find the wall studs behind your bed. Attach wall hangers to the wall into the studs. Attach the remaining section of the wall hangers to the back of the bamboo headboard in spots corresponding to the hangers on the wall. Hang the bamboo headboard.
