How to Unlock an IBM Thinkpad T60 BIOS

The "basic input and output system" (also called "BIOS" for short) is the main set-up program on the IBM Thinkpad T60. You can use the BIOS to program which hardware components start up at which times or which operating systems are installed on your unit. Unlocking the BIOS on an IBM Thinkpad T60 involves restarting your machine and pressing a specific button at the correct moment.

    Turn on or restart your IBM Thinkpad T60.

    Watch for the message on screen that reads "To Interrupt Normal Startup." When you see this message, press and then release the blue button labelled "ThinkVantage" on your T60.

    Highlight "Start Setup Utility" and press "Enter" to select it. This will unlock the BIOS on your IBM Thinkpad T60 and you will now be able to access it.
