The Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) is used by iTunes to recognise your iPod Touch or iPhone on your computer, and can sometimes fail to be properly recognised by your computer during set-up. In order to use iTunes with your device for syncing information on both devices you'll need to restart the AMDS. This can be easily accomplished by restarting the service in the "Administrative Tools" section on PCs, and in the "Extensions" folder on Macintosh computers.
