Wedding PowerPoint presentations help to set the mood during a wedding reception. However, many couples have used PowerPoint in place of program to give their guests a visual presentation of the ceremony. PowerPoint makes it easy to make a customised presentation with all the design flexibility it gives its users. Anyone can create a wedding PowerPoint presentation with pictures, music and important information if they learn about the program’s features.

    Open a new PowerPoint document. Click on the “Office” button and select “New.”

    Add new slides to your wedding PowerPoint. Click on the “Home” tab, then select the “Slides” group. Once you click the “Slides” group, select the arrow next to “New Slide.” You will need to know how many slides you need for your presentation. Typically, wedding presentations have an opening title slide, slides for each picture and a conclusion slide.

    Change the layout of any slide. Select the “Slides” tab, and then click on the slide that you wish to assign a new layout. Then select the “Home” tab, click on the “Slides” group and select “Layout.”

    Add text to your wedding slides. To do this, you will need to click on the placeholder where you wish to add text. PowerPoint templates come equipped with placeholders that allow you to add text, and they appear as box outlines with small dashes. Typically, a wedding presentation will include love quotations, photo captions and short stories about the couple.

    Change the appearance of the text. Make the text stand out from the background by changing the size, colour and font style. To change the appearance of the text, select the “Home” tab and you will notice buttons that will allow you to make the necessary adjustments. You will need to make the text large enough for the audience to see, choose a colour that stands out against the background, and use a font such as Arial or Times New Roman to make the text easy to read.

    Arrange the slides in the order. If you need to move slides around in the wedding PowerPoint, simply click on the “Slides” tab, and then select the slide that you wish to move. You can then drag and drop it into its new location.

    Delete slides that you do not suit your presentation. If you make a slide that you simply do not like, select the “Slides” tab, and then right-click on the slide you wish to delete. When a menu opens, select “Delete Slide.”

    Add a theme to your wedding PowerPoint. Choose a theme that matches your wedding colours or suits your wedding style. Select the “Design” tab, then click on the “Themes” group. From here, you can select the theme you wish to apply to your PowerPoint.

    Add photos and clip art to your wedding PowerPoint. Include photographs of the couple together, separate photographs of the couple when they were young and wedding clip art. You will need to select the placeholder where you want to add the clip art. Then click on the “Insert” tab, choose the “Illustrations” group and then select either “Clip Art” or “Picture.” You will need to locate the picture on your computer’s hard drive to add it to your presentation.

    Insert music into your PowerPoint. Wedding PowerPoint presentations often include background music to suit the pictures. Choose a romantic song such as one the couple plans to dance to at the wedding. Click on the “Insert” tab, and then select “Movies and Sounds.” You can then select “Sound from file” and once the sound shows in the task pane, you will need to right-click and select “Custom Animation.” Another way to achieve this is the select “Slide Show,” click on “Custom Animation” and right-click on “Media.” When the menu opens, you will then select “Effect Options.” Click on the “Stop Playing” button and enter in the “Stop Playing” slide number.

    Preview your wedding PowerPoint. Select “Slide Show” and then click on “From Beginning.”

    Save the presentation if you are satisfied. Click on the "Office" button, select "Save" and then enter a name for the presentation in the "File Name" field.

Tips and warnings

  • You can burn the presentation to DVD by importing it into a free DVD program such as Microsoft Movie Maker.
