Windows Media Center is a multimedia utility that allows you to watch your favourite television shows and more from the comfort of your computer. While Media Center is included with many versions of Windows Vista and 7, it is not included by default with XP Professional. The only way to install Windows Media Center on a computer running Windows XP Pro is to upgrade to Windows XP MCE (Media Center Edition).

Things you need
- Windows MCE installation disks
Insert the first Windows MCE installation disk into your computer's CD drive. Select "Install." The installation program will scan your computer for currently installed Windows products.
Choose the option to perform an "Upgrade" installation as opposed to a "Full" installation. This will shorten the time it takes to install Media Center while keeping all of your original files and settings from XP Professional.
Insert the second disk into your computer when prompted by the auto-installer.
Switch back to disk one at the conclusion of the installation. Your computer will reboot with Windows Media Center fully installed upon reloading.
