Pedestals are drawers placed below the washer or dryer for extra storage. Pedestal drawers are typically an option that can be purchased with newer washers and dryers such as the Whirlpool Duet series, KitchenAid Ensemble series, Kenmore Elite series and some Maytag models. Washing machine pedestals lift up the washer to make front loaders easier to access and reduce bending over. The pedestals are easy to install and provide storage of washing powder, fabric softener, an iron and other laundry supplies.

Tip the pedestal on its back and line up holes on the washing machine with slots on the pedestal.
Screw the attachment screws up through the pedestal into the washing machine holes.
Turn the pedestal and washing machine upright. Lifting the appliance will require more than one person to avoid injury.
Tighten all screws with a wrench.

Adjust the feet on the pedestal to level the washing machine and pedestal. It will be easier to reach the rear feet for adjustment if the pedestal drawer is open.
