Many buyers seek out handmade products because they are one-of-a-kind items that aren't available in the quantities that factory items are. eBay has millions of shoppers each day who come to the site to browse and buy. This makes it faster and easier to make sales on eBay than to create an e-commerce site from scratch to sell homemade crafts.

Instructions

  1. 1

Sign up for a membership with eBay. Choose an eBay user name and enter your contact information to get an account with the site.

  2. 2

Click the "Sell" tab at the top right of the page. Click on the "Start Selling" link. Continue to the category page and choose the best classification for your craft item. It is required to choose one, but you can choose two for a double insertion fee.

  3. 3

Create a title for your listing. Describe it in detail, and explain that it is a homemade item not available in stores. Many customers like knowing that the items they buy are not off-the-shelf products and are unique. Describe the condition of the item, what it can be used for and give its dimensions.

  4. 4

Take at least one picture of the item. Crafts that have intricate patterns should have a picture of the full item plus a close-up picture of that makes the pattern more apparent.

  5. 5

Set a price and a shipping fee. If you are unsure of the cost of shipping, weigh the item and check the weight against the usps.com postage rates. Some eBay craft sellers price their items for less than what comparable items would cost at retail in order to sell at a higher volume. Other sellers sell their items at higher prices to reflect the handmade and artisan nature of the items. To decide on your own pricing strategy, conduct a few eBay searches to find items similar to your own to see how they are priced. If there is little or nothing similar, you may choose to set a higher price. If the market is full of similar items, your price should be competitive with those prices in order to make sales.

  6. 6

Create a "Me page" that tells your customers a little more about the items you create. This gives your handmade crafts a little character and sets you apart from some of the other sellers who offer their crafts for sale on eBay. If possible, take pictures of several of your crafts to show customers the types of items you make. If you have your own craft site, you are allowed to link to it form your Me page, but you can't link to it from the item description pages.
