The NordicTrack Pilates is an exercise bench for those who want a home workout device that improves muscle tone and cardiovascular endurance through a variety of exercises. While sitting on a sliding seat attached to the machine, the user pushes and pulls their body across the machine's frame. This motion is achieved by the machine's utilising interconnected pulleys and resistance cables. After much use, the machine's pulleys can stop operating as fluidly as they should for optimum performance. If this occurs, the bolts holding the pulley wheels can be lubricated with a household oil, to fix this problem.

Instructions

  1. 1

Detach the resistance cables from the resistance brackets, and detach both pulleys from the pulley tubes. Use pliers or an open-end wrench to secure the nut on one of the pulleys. With the socket wrench, take out the bolt from the pulley. Separate the pulley bracket from the pulley wheel and cable.

  2. 2

Put a little lubricant onto a towel, and then, with the towel, wipe the lubricant onto the bolt's smooth portion. Use another, moistened work towel to clean off any gunk or dirt from the pulley wheel and bracket. Reconnect the pulley bracket with the pulley wheel and cable.

  3. 3

Reinsert the bolt into the bracket and pulley wheel, screw the nut onto the bolt's end until tight. Take apart and lubricate the other pulley in the same fashion. Then reconnect the pulleys with the pulley tubes.

  4. 4

Pop out the adjustment knob, and then pull out the frame's ends of the frame so that the device is fully extended. Move the seat to one side of the machine's frame. Apply a small amount of dish soap and water to a work towel, Clean the exposed seat rails with a towel that has been moistened with soapy water. Make sure to thoroughly dry off the rails before moving the cushion to the machine's opposite side. Then repeat the procedure.

  5. 5

Use a socket wrench and an open-end wrench or pliers to take out the bolt, the washers, and the nuts from underneath one of the sliding seat's corners. Remove from that corner the carriage wheel. Clean off the removed parts with the soapy, wet towel. Then use the towel with lubricant on it to wipe the bolt's smooth portion.

  6. 6

Reconnect the wheel, bolt, washers, and nuts to the corner of the sliding seat. Clean and lubricate the other three corners of the sliding seat in the same manner. Pop out the adjustment knob and push together the frame's ends. Reconnect the resistance cables to their respective brackets.

Tips and warnings

  • After every workout, clean the seat rails and pulley cables to keep grime from building up.
  • Do not use powerful solvents for cleaning the Pilates machine.
