If you are throwing a John Deere tractor-themed party, then try making your own tractor biscuits. You do not need a biscuit cutter to design your own John Deere biscuits. Making the basic tractor shape with a pizza cutter will allow you to make these themed biscuits. The biscuits will require decorating with the John Deere colours: green and yellow. By using your imagination, you can create tractor biscuits that will impress your guests.

Instructions

  1. 1

Place the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and baking soda in a mixing bowl. Use an electric mixer until the ingredients are well blended. This will take about 3 minutes.

  2. 2

Add the eggs and vanilla extract. Reduce the mixer speed, and gradually add the flour. Stop mixing the ingredients once a soft biscuit dough forms.

  3. 3

Refrigerate the biscuit dough for 2 hours.

  4. 4

Lay the dough out on a lightly floured surface. Use a rolling pin the roll the dough out to a thickness of 6 mm (1/4 inch).

  5. 5

Use a pizza cutter to make a tractor shape. For a basic tractor shape, create a tall rectangle lying horizontally with a short rectangle attached to it vertically (on its left side). This will look like an elongated "L" reversed and laying on its side.

  6. 6

Place each tractor shape on a baking tray. Bake the biscuits at 190 degrees C (375 degrees F) for 12 minutes.

  7. 7

Allow the biscuits to cool completely.

  8. 8

Spread green icing on all the biscuits. Place the yellow icing in a piping bag, and use a small circle tip. Outline the biscuits with yellow icing. These are the two famous colours associated with John Deere tractors.

  9. 9

Place a mini Oreo on the bottom left side of the cookie. The green icing will allow the Oreo to stick to your cookie.

  10. 10

Use the yellow icing to make a small circle in the middle of the Oreo. Add a dot of white icing to the centre of the yellow circle. This completes the large wheel on the tractor.

  11. 11

Add a brown M&M to the opposite end of the Oreo biscuit. Place a dot of yellow icing in the centre of the brown M&M.

  12. 12

Allow the icing to set. Place the biscuits on a plate. Wrap foil around them to prevent the icing from crusting.

Tips and warnings

  • Write "John Deere" across the tractor biscuits with yellow icing in a piping bag.
  • Use a deer biscuit cutter, and apply green and yellow icing to represent the John Deere logo.
