3M adhesive hooks are manufactured under the Command product name. 3M makes many different styles and types of hooks that attach to almost any hard surface. The adhesive is quite strong, allowing the hooks to hold anywhere from half a pound up to several pounds. The hooks can be easily removed with no residue or damage to the mounting surface.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Remove the hook by grasping it with your fingers and pulling upward so that it slides off the base.

  2. 2

Place pressure on the base slightly with your thumb and fore finger, keeping your hand and arm away from the bottom of the base.

  3. 3

Pull straight down on the bottom tab approximately 15 inches to release the adhesive.

  4. 4

Remove one tab at a time if your base has more than one adhesive strip.

  5. 5

Remove the base from the wall when the adhesive releases.

Tips and warnings

  • Save the hook after removal. It can be reused by purchasing replacement adhesive strips.
  • When removing the base from the wall, do not pull the tab at an angle away from the wall or damage may occur to the mounting surface.
