BlackBerry has been producing mainstream smartphones for many years. Skype has been a popular way for people all over the world to stay connected for years as well. Unfortunately, there is only one program for BlackBerry that will access Skype. Since May of 2009, BlackBerry users have been told that they would be receiving a Skype Lite client from Skype, but now at the end of December 2009 there is still no word on beta testing. Thankfully one program, iSkoot, works well and gets the job done.

Open your BlackBerry's web browser. There is one main Skype program for BlackBerry phones: iSkoot, which can be used on all BlackBerry phones. To download iSkoot enter http://iSkoot.com/products/skype in the URL box of your phone.
Download and install the client as instructed on the website.
Boot up the Skype client from your menu page. You will need to enter your Skype login information. The Skype BlackBerry client works just like the full computer version with the chat logs and conversations. Use the BlackBerry button to navigate through Skype.
